Plenty of wind – plenty of fun!

It hasn’t always been like this. But after 15,000 nautical miles, it’s time to just sit back and enjoy the moment. The Strait of Bonifacio is the perfect place for that! And the ideal setting for my company’s promotional video.

Sardinia / Italy
Corsica / France

August 2025

I’ve already visited the Windward Islands, but what will the Leewards be like? With Martinique almost within sight, we head north and find ourselves in a completely different atmosphere. No boat boys to greet you miles before you reach your destination, but perfect sandy beaches in Antigua and Barbuda. However, navigation is no easy feat; the numerous reefs around the islands demand constant vigilance.

You can’t get any further west in Africa. Most yachts stop off in Mindelo before setting out across the Atlantic. However, hardly anyone stays on the west coast of São Antão.

We have often had the pleasure of admiring dolphins as lucky companions to our yachts. However, I have never before seen so many of them, for so long, and performing such fantastic leaps. Even though the footage was not filmed in accordance with all safety precautions.

Winds consistently above 30 knots – good progress is guaranteed, but the sea is rough. It’s a relief to be able to cover most of the route in the shelter of the Cape Verde Islands.

Cres / Croatia
June 2023

Every sailing area has its hotspots – the places you simply must visit. The Blue Cave on Cres is certainly one of them. As a skipper, you’ll need nerves of steel to drop anchor here amidst the many day-trip boats and charter vessels. But it’s well worth it!

Tenerife / Canary Islands

February 2024

You can get plenty of wind in your sails even between the Canary Islands. It makes it all the more impressive that we were able to enjoy such wonderful encounters despite travelling at a slow pace!

The plan was to get a breath of Atlantic air. We hadn’t expected the sea to be so rough between the islands. But that didn’t spoil the fun in the slightest.

Kvarner Bay / Croatia

August 2023

Croatia, with its crystal-clear waters and many beautiful islands, is well worth a visit. I hope the dolphins feel as at home here as they seem to.

If you’re visiting the Aeolian Islands – also known as the Lipari Islands – a trip to Stromboli is an absolute must. Rarely have I been so impressed on my travels!

To get to Helsinki’s city harbour, you can either follow the buoyed channel used by cruise ships – or take the small entrance alongside the fortress. There’s no question which one we chose!

From Bornholm to Karlskrona

July 2022

From Bornholm, our route takes us through Hanö Bay, which can certainly throw up some challenging weather conditions. Lea handles this task with the Tuulikki Suuri with flying colours!

Sailing the hard way. Setting off from the dreaded Bay of Biscay, along the English Channel with its formidable tidal currents, all the way to the rough North Sea. An impressive non-stop voyage.
